"I had an incredible opportunity to take a guitar lesson with Luiz Brasil. I
didn't actually know him by name until recently, but have been a huge of his
playing and arranging with Caetano Veloso. I'd seen him perform with
Caetano a few times, both live and on DVDs, and love his playing on
Caetano's CDs. What I discovered in meeting him, and learning more about
his music is that is an *amazingly* versatile, creative, open-minded player
-- fluent in so many different musical styles (pop, funk, jazz, rock, samba,
forró, classical, etc.) and guitar styles (solo guitar, comping/chords,
improvisation). He's not only an amazing player, but a great teacher, who
enjoys sharing, and is able to break down and communicate complex ideas. I
came away with loads of inspiration and specific ideas which I'll be working
on for months. Whether you want to work on comping, soloing, right-hand
technique, or arranging -- Luis seems to be a master, and able guide. ...And
he's also an *incredibly* nice, interesting person -- and I really enjoyed
spending the afternoon together! I'm definitely looking forward to my next
